Setting Healthy Boundaries For Children
A primary factor in good parenting is the willingness to set limits for a child’s behavior. When they know what actions are acceptable and what actions are not, children can more easily learn to control their behavior independently. Reasonable boundaries that are consistently enforced can help children:
- Feel more secure at home and away from home
- Learn the socialization skills they will need at school
- Develop a sense of responsibility to themselves and toward others
- Develop the self confidence they will need to succeed in life
This workshop will provide the information and examples that parents need to establish healthy boundaries – those that encourage positive emotional, social, and educational growth for their children.
This workshop will include a question and answer period, as well as handouts to take home.
Talking So Children Will Listen
Loving parents have at least two purposes in mind when talking to their children:
- Fostering within their children a desire to please the parents
- Creating a spirit of obedience to the parents and to God
This workshop will show parents how to use language that is clear and understandable, no matter what the child’s age. Parents will learn what language works to encourage respect and cheerful compliance, and what language works best in matters of discipline. They will hear how to make sure that both mother and father are consistent in what they say to their children, and that both mother and father understand the importance of using positive affirmations to encourage their children to listen and understand.
This workshop will include a question and answer period, as well as handouts to take home.
